Functional Wormholes

Wormholes are fascinating and are commonly talked about in pop physics. Physicists and science-fiction

fans alike dream of using wormholes for incredible things such as interstellar or inter-universe travel and

communication. However, wormholes have never been observed, and the chance of a wormhole to be useful

to an advanced civilization is low. In this work I propose a definition for a wormhole that is functional as a

science-fiction device and demonstrate that it cannot exist within the known and accepted laws of physics

for a single compact mass, thus requiring an extension to physics or more complicated mass distribution for

a functional wormhole to exist.
